New NJ law requires data centers to report water and energy use: 'They will not operate in the shadows'
New Jersey data centers must now report their total energy consumption, cooling energy, IT equipment energy, peak daily water use, water sources, and backup power supplies to the state Board of Public Utilities twice yearly. The law requires these disclosures to prevent operators from functioning without public oversight and accountability.
