How Trabzonspor shocked Turkish rivals to make Mohamed Salah their Black Sea saviour

Mohamed Salah signed with Trabzonspor, a Black Sea club that broke the Istanbul monopoly by attracting a marquee player to Trabzon instead of to one of Istanbul's Big Three teams. The president initiated contact during the World Cup, and the club successfully competed against Besiktas, which had initially appeared most likely to secure the former Liverpool striker.
