Alzheimer’s breakthrough: Scientists restore two hours of sleep without clearing brain plaques

Removing most brain immune cells called microglia restored over two hours of daily sleep in mice with Alzheimer's plaques, despite leaving the plaques intact. The overactive microglia had triggered inflammation that prevented deep, restorative sleep in affected mice.
