An AI proctoring system missed widespread cheating during Mexico's largest university entrance exam, with high scores jumping from 0.9% to 5.5% of test-takers. Nearly 160,000 applicants took the online exam monitored by AI software called Territorium, which watched through webcams while a browser called LockDown restricted computer access.

Meta is asking some individual contributors in its Applied AI division to return to managerial roles after implementing a flat structure with up to 50 contributors per manager. The division, formed in March with 7,000 employees, previously eliminated management layers during its 2023 efficiency campaign.
